Orientation weekend & El Rodeo!

Hey people, how's it going?
I'm sorry for making you wait so long for me to update this, but I've had stuff to do :)
Just a little picture
of a sunrise over Catamarca
So, a little about what you are gonna hear about in this post:

  • School!
  • My spanish
  • Queen Election
  • The Rotary orientation weekend
  • El Rodeo/students -day/-week
  • Some other things

So, let's begin!
Yeah, that's little me in my cute
school uniform :3
Yes, I have started in school, I am now an official argentinian school student, on a school in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca called ENCJA. I am in 5to "H" with Sølvi, the guy from the Faroe Islands, whom I traveled to Catamarca with. There are about 32 persons in my class, it says so in the group on facebook, but it don't seem like that many, but there are a lot and we have a very small class room in the basement of the school. Quit nice. Well very different than at home, that's all I'm gonna say. I don't do much in class. I don't understand shit of what the teacher says, haha, only in english of course. In english is kind of a both way class, like a english-/spanish class. While the learn english, Sølvi and I learn spanish. That's actually nice, 'cause the english they learn is not as high level as and danish class in that age, so it's pretty basic.
In chemistry I do work too. Well, it has only been copy sheets, and like math, with Boyld's law and so, so it's pretty easy. Me gusta! I the rest of the classes I use most of the time to either talk to the classmates, or draw. Oh year, drawing. I'm getting a lot of practice. Hehe, but thats nice.
I also practice spanish, witch still is pretty hard, but I'm getting there! I can understand much of what my mom says to me, but for some reason every time someone ask me a question I am all like, "Erh, no entender espanol, derpie-derp". But as I said, I'm getting better and better every day, I think.

Here in Argentina, or in Catamarca I am not sure, is it tradition to find a "queen" of the season. It is like a "Beauty Contest" where like 20-30 girls walk a "catwalk" in two different outfits: A casual and a going out. The judges is a group of the school teachers whom later will choose the winners and so.
Well, we were one day talking about this at school, and some girls said that I should be in it, and I was like "noo" and they were like "yees!" and then more came, and at last I said okay... So I did it and I knew I could not win because I was not from Argentina, not really from the school, but it was a special experience. And Sølvi was kind of in it to, to walk me, and a couple of other girls, in to the "catwalk". Man, those people are crazy about that boy! :D Here some pics from the Pre-election that I was in:
"Going out"
(Btw. Everybody is
at Sølvi, hehe ;))
Casual

All righty! Now to the orientation weekend with Rotary! It was a meeting at a hotel/place called Valle Carlos Paz three weeks ago, from the 7th to the 9th. A pretty nice hotel, with clean rooms an nice bath. Well, it was all the exchange students from all over the world and the once there going from Argentina in January from our district, 4815. We heard a lot about aaall the things we could/should do and could/should not do, things we had heard a thousand times before. But that was only some of the time. There was a nice garden, and the wether was HOT! The rooms were nice as I said, and it was cool to meet all the others from all over the world. We also met the last danish person in our district, hehe, we are four and three of os came to Catamarca and she lives i Cordoba where the weekend had place. Her name is Caroline and I sad next to her on the flight to Buenos Aries. A very nice girl. She had not been speaking danish since we came here, so it was a little weird for her at first, and there appeared an english word now and then, heheh. But we had fun, her, me and Mathilde. And it was actually nice to be around some danish girls for a change.
Besides all the dos and don'ts-talk and the nice free time, there were arranged some activities. We played some weird games withe the Roteract/interact, friday night we had a talent show, where most people showed something traditional from their countries. Mathilde danced and she was very good I can tell you ;) And saturday we had a costume-party! Every body (except the adults) were wearing all different kinds of costumes, there was a disco and a DJ and music (of course) and dancing and people seemed to have some fun. Sunday before we went home we had to stand up in front of everyone and tell about our country. IN SPANISH! Well it went okay and we had Sølvi's "support" because he didn't want to do it by him self. Haha. We also had to sing our national anthem. We could only the first verse. So that weekend was fun. Even (most of) the 6 hours bus drive was okay. Saw some movies, had a chat or two, took a nap, you know all those things you do when you're traveling like that.
Here some pictures:

Okay, here it comes! EL RODEO! El Rodeo is a beautiful place up in the mountains, that once a year is host for most of Catamarca's young people in The Students Week. It's almost a week, or a long weekend, of parting! You rent a house, a lot of people together, and then you stay in El Rodeo and party all day and all night! (Ok maybe not all day) It was a lot of fun and I think everybody knew who we were, 'cause every time we went out of the house, people started screaming our names, haha. But nothing is so good it's not bad for something.. Yep that's right, something bad always has to happen.. One night we were out, and some other stayed in the house in the backyard. While they was there some one snuck in a STOLE MY BACKPACK! Yes, my sweet heart Fjäll Räven! And not just the backpack, also the stuff in it, which happened to be my most valuable things! :( My camera, 200 pesos, my ?!clippers!? and my beautiful, sweet and truly beloved iPod :'( And thats not it! He also took my sisters backpack and stole some pants and a sweatshirt!? And her phone! I don't know who the fuck he is, but I'm gonna hunt him down and I will kill him! ORG! But well, Sol went to the police and they found our bags ind the river.. At least the thief was nice enough to put my wallet back in my bag, and THANK GOD he didn't take my credit card! But all my notebooks and my dictionary got all wet and ugly..
So I would love to show you some pics from the fun we had, but hopefully you understand that that's not really possible. But besides that, it was fun. :)

Alright. That's the things I've been doing lately and by the way have I passed my first month! Damn, the time is really flying, I have to learn that spanish fast! Because time is not the thing I have most of, apparently. Here some other pictures, hehehe:
